Tengnoupal District is a new district in Manipur, India. Under the Extra Ordinary Manipur Gazette Notification No.408 December,

2016 Tengoupal District was created as a new district among (seven) new districts by bifurcating from the existing Chandel District.

It is one of the 16 full fledged

districts of the Indian state of Manipur.The district headquarters is located in Tengnoupal village (24.328°N 93.986°ECoordinates: 24.328°N 93.986°E).

The Sub-divisions : Moreh, Machi and Tengnoupal are under Tengnoupal District.

The district is home to about 59 thousand people, among them about 30 thousand (51%) are male and about 29 thousand (49%) are female. 15% of the whole population are from general caste, 1% are from schedule caste and 84% are schedule tribes. Child (aged under 6 years) population of Tengnoupal district is 12%, among them 52% are boys and 48% are girls. There are about 12 thousand households in the district and an average 5 persons live in every family.

The majority of the population, nearly 71% (about 42 thousand) live in Tengnoupal District rural part and 29% (about 17 thousand) population live in the Tengnoupal District urban part.
